Pika

Pikas are small, herbivorous mammals belonging to the family Ochotonidae, closely related to rabbits and hares. These diminutive creatures are primarily found in rocky mountain regions and cold climates across Asia and North America. Pikas are known for their round bodies, short limbs, and distinct high-pitched calls. Unlike their lagomorph relatives, pikas do not hibernate during the winter; instead, they prepare by collecting and storing vegetation in haypiles to sustain them through the colder months. Their social behaviors and vocalizations play a crucial role in maintaining their territories and communicating with other members of their species.
