On Sunday morning, I had the incredible experience of spotting my first-ever Red-kneed Dotterel at a farm dam along Priors Pocket Road in Moggill!
It’s always exciting to add a new lifer, and this one did not disappoint—such a striking little wader with its bold black and white markings and, of course, those distinctive red “knees.”
Even better, a Black-fronted Dotterel was also present, making for a fantastic side-by-side comparison of these two beautiful species. A great way to start the day and a reminder of how rewarding birdwatching can be!
Cheers,
Gordon
