Gopher

Gophers are small to medium-sized burrowing rodents belonging to the family Geomyidae. Known for their extensive tunneling abilities, these creatures are primarily found in North and Central America. They have adapted to a subterranean lifestyle, with strong forelimbs and large, clawed paws that make them excellent diggers. Gophers play a crucial role in soil aeration and nutrient distribution, as their burrowing activities mix the soil layers. Despite being considered pests in agricultural areas due to their tendency to damage crops and garden plants, gophers contribute significantly to ecosystem health by enhancing soil structure and promoting plant growth.
