Snowcock

The Snowcock bird family, known scientifically as Tetraogallus, comprises a group of large, robust game birds native to the mountainous regions of Asia and southeastern Europe. Renowned for their striking plumage and powerful flight, Snowcocks inhabit rugged terrains, often seen above the tree line in alpine meadows and rocky slopes. These birds are highly adapted to cold environments, with their thick feathers providing insulation against harsh weather. Social and vocal, Snowcocks are often heard before they are seen, their calls echoing across the mountains as they forage for seeds, insects, and small invertebrates.
