Shearwater

The Shearwater bird family, known scientifically as Procellariidae, is a group of medium to large seabirds that are highly adapted to life over the open ocean. They are characterized by their long, slender wings and tube-like nostrils, which help them excrete excess salt from seawater. Shearwaters are incredible long-distance travelers, with some species migrating thousands of miles between breeding and feeding grounds. These birds are often observed gliding effortlessly over the waves, using dynamic soaring techniques to conserve energy over vast distances. Shearwaters play a crucial role in marine ecosystems, serving as both predators and indicators of ocean health.
