Possum

Possums are marsupials native to Australia, New Guinea, and Sulawesi, belonging to the Phalangeridae family. These nocturnal creatures are known for their arboreal lifestyle, with prehensile tails aiding in their navigation through trees. Possums are diverse in size and habitat, ranging from the tiny pygmy possum to the larger common brushtail possum. They play a crucial role in their ecosystems as pollinators and seed dispersers, contributing to the health and regeneration of forests. Despite often being confused with the American opossum, possums have distinct differences, primarily in their geographical distribution and physical characteristics.
