Turkey

Turkeys are large, ground-dwelling birds native to North America, easily recognized by their fan-shaped tails, wattled necks, and iridescent feathers. Wild turkeys inhabit woodlands, grasslands, and scrub, where they forage for seeds, insects, and berries. Known for their social behavior and impressive courtship displays, males—called toms—puff up their bodies, fan their tails, and gobble loudly to attract mates. Domesticated turkeys are a staple of agriculture and cultural traditions, especially during festive seasons like Thanksgiving.
