Junglefowl

Junglefowl are wild relatives of domestic chickens, native to the forests of South and Southeast Asia. These ground-dwelling birds are known for their vibrant plumage, especially in males, and their loud, crowing calls that echo through dense undergrowth. Four species exist, including the Red Junglefowl—the ancestor of the domestic chicken. Junglefowl forage for seeds, insects, and fruit, and prefer habitats with thick vegetation for cover and nesting. Their elusive nature makes them a prized sighting for birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts.
