Condor

Condors are among the largest flying birds in the world, known for their massive wingspans and soaring flight. Native to the Americas, the two extant species—the Andean Condor and the California Condor—are both scavengers that play a vital ecological role by consuming carrion. These birds are distinguished by their bald heads, adapted for hygiene, and their ability to glide effortlessly for hours on thermal air currents. Despite their majesty, both species face significant conservation challenges due to habitat loss, poisoning, and slow reproductive rates, making them powerful symbols of environmental protection efforts.
