The Springbok (Antidorcas marsupialis) is a member of the Bovidae family, native to the open plains and grasslands of southern Africa. Known for their remarkable agility and speed, Springboks can leap up to 4 meters in the air, a behavior known as ‘pronking,’ which is believed to be a display to predators or a social signal among the herd. These elegant antelopes feature a distinctive white face with a dark stripe running from the eyes to the mouth and a light-brown coat with a white underbelly. Springboks are well-adapted to their arid environment, obtaining sufficient moisture from the plants they consume, which allows them to survive in regions with scarce water sources.
