Rousette

The Rousette family, belonging to the suborder Megachiroptera, comprises numerous species of flying foxes and fruit bats predominantly found in tropical and subtropical regions. Notably, these mammals are recognized for their large eyes and excellent night vision, which assist in their largely frugivorous diet. Rousette bats play a vital ecological role as pollinators and seed dispersers, significantly contributing to forest regeneration. Their unique echolocation abilities, although less refined than those of microbats, facilitate navigation in the dark. Conservation efforts are increasingly important for the Rousette family as habitat loss and hunting pose significant threats to their populations.
