Cavy

The Cavy mammal family, scientifically known as Caviidae, includes a variety of small, stout-bodied rodents native to South America. This family encompasses several species, including the well-known guinea pig, the capybara, which is the largest living rodent, and the rock cavies. Cavies are adapted to a range of habitats, from dense rainforests to open grasslands. They are generally herbivorous, feeding on a diet of grasses, seeds, and fruits. Cavies play a significant role in their ecosystems as both prey and seed dispersers, and they have been domesticated in some cultures for companionship and food.
