Bittern

Bitterns are a group of secretive, stocky herons known for their incredible camouflage and elusive behavior. Found in reed beds and wetlands across the globe, these birds blend seamlessly into their surroundings with streaked brown plumage. Their distinctive “booming” calls, especially during breeding season, are often the only clues to their presence. Bitterns prefer solitary lives, hunting stealthily for fish, insects, and amphibians among dense vegetation.
