Wisent
The Wisent, also known as the European bison, is a member of the mammal family Bovidae. It is the continent’s heaviest land animal and is a close relative of the American bison. Wisents are primarily found in forested areas and are known for their robust build, with a thick coat that allows them to withstand harsh European winters. Conservation efforts have been critical in reviving their populations after they faced near extinction in the early 20th century. Today, they are a symbol of successful wildlife conservation in Europe, roaming freely in protected areas and national parks.
