Pudus are small, elusive deer native to the temperate rainforests of South America, particularly found in Chile and Argentina. Known as the world’s smallest deer, pudus belong to the Cervidae family and are characterized by their compact bodies, short legs, and rounded ears. They thrive in dense underbrush, which provides them with ample cover from predators. Pudus are herbivorous, primarily feeding on leaves, fruits, and seeds. Despite their diminutive size, they are adept at navigating rugged terrain and can leap impressively high to escape threats. Conservation efforts are ongoing to protect these charming creatures, as their habitats are under threat from deforestation and human encroachment.
