Macaque

Macaques are a diverse group of Old World monkeys belonging to the family Cercopithecidae, known for their adaptability and widespread distribution across Asia, North Africa, and Gibraltar. With over 20 species, macaques exhibit various physical and behavioral traits, often residing in both terrestrial and arboreal habitats. They are highly social animals, living in large groups with complex social structures. Macaques are omnivorous, feeding on fruits, leaves, seeds, and small animals, and are known for their intelligence and ability to use tools. Their close interaction with human populations has made them a subject of numerous studies in primatology.
