Marmot

Marmots are large, burrowing rodents belonging to the Sciuridae family, which also includes squirrels. Known for their stout bodies, short limbs, and bushy tails, marmots are primarily found in North America and Eurasia. These social mammals live in colonies and are most active during the warmer months, spending winters hibernating in elaborate burrows. Marmots communicate using a range of vocalizations and are often seen sunbathing on rocks or grassy slopes. Their diet mainly consists of grasses, herbs, and grains, playing a crucial role in their respective ecosystems by influencing vegetation growth and serving as prey for predators.
