Monal

The Monal bird family, known for their vibrant plumage and striking appearance, consists of species found primarily in the mountainous regions of Asia. These birds are part of the pheasant family, Phasianidae, and are celebrated for their iridescent feathers that shimmer in hues of blue, green, and gold. The Himalayan Monal, the national bird of Nepal, is perhaps the most well-known of the group. Monals inhabit high-altitude forests and alpine meadows, adapting well to the cold environments. Their diet mainly consists of seeds, roots, and small invertebrates. Despite their captivating beauty, some Monal species face threats from habitat loss and hunting, prompting conservation efforts to protect these magnificent creatures.
