The "red-throated" swallows of Africa are some what simmilar in appearance and this guide aims to assist with identification.
The three swallows in this group are very similar in appearance in that they all had a blue back, light belly, redish throat and upper chest and a breast band of sorts.
There are however a few differences in the group. The differences you are looking for are:
- Belly colour.
- Extent of red throat
- Width of breast band
- Tail length
- Under tail colour
With the above in mind, below are images of the three species indicating exactly what the differences are.
