Doug, Andy, Neil and I arrived early on Sunday the 22nd to try and find the Baillon's Crake. After walking along the road for a few minutes we were rewarded with a very good sighting of the crake walking towards us along the road!
This sighting was followed up by taking part in the summer CWAC organised by Stan Madden. Our section of the reserve produced one or two very nice species, including SA Shelduck and Southern Pochard as well as the nesting White-breasted Cormorant on the power lines.
All in all a very successful morning!..
