Carlos Rolfes Pan is situated on the East Rand. It is primarily a haven for waterbirds. The area is now surrounded by industrial parks and has become less accessible to the public. There are still one or two viewing areas outside the border fence though it is doubtful that these will remain for long due to the pressure for land in the area.
Among other specials that have turned up here, probably the most notable were four Garganey. Franklin's Gull has also been recorded here.
