Hi

I am currently in the North Eastern DRC (Near Sudan and Uganda) on a project. We are sampling a couple of rivers here and it allows me the chance to spot some birds too. I photographed the one below sitting on a rock in the middle of a fast flowing river. I have no clue what it could be. First thought was a plover of sorts. Not a great pic either.

I have also spotted a Palm-nut Vulture, Great Blue Turaco and a Red-throated Bee-eater. All lifers for me

Hi Grant B,

Looks like a Rock Pratincole to me... Busy painting house at the moment so don't have access to books to check distribution. I think from my bad memory that there should not be a problem with that. Habitat is certainly fine.
