Hi All

I saw quite a number of Amur falcons over the farmlands around Karatara about 20km inland from Knysna. According to my 1st edition Newmans, these birds are way out of range, but according to the recent results of the bird atlas project, there have been some sightings closer to the Port Elizabeth area, suggesting that they do occur further south, and indeed, closer to the coast, rather than being restricted to the highveld as one would expect.

Anyway, birds have wings, and for an Amur falcon to travel from the Amur in Asia to South Africa, what's a few extra 100km? 1-2% overshot?

I'm curious if this is a relatively new expansion of range, or a once off odd sighting?
