Although it is very late for the wildebeest migration we still encountered many thousands of wildebeest making the trek towards the Mara River.







I was not ready for the sight that greeted us at the bridge across the Mara. Hundreds of carcasses of drowned wildebeest were spread, bloated and rotting, on the riverbanks and rocks mid-river. You are lucky that I can not upload the stomach-turning stench that accompanied this view.









Of course the vultures and other raptors were having a field day, and I stopped counting at 250 in the wheeling stack above the river.
