Kruger is incredibly lush and green at the moment after all the rain. Photography was not that easy this time as it was overcast and raining almost the entire time, though I did manage one or two photo's:

European Roller

Burchells Starling

Tawny Eagle

Redbilled Quelea

Redbilled Quelea

Woodland Kingfisher

Snake - not sure which species?

Zebra

Cheers,
Gordon

Awesome stuff although I hate widescreen monitors... Your Woodland kingfisher looks like a dwarf on my screen... either that or rather well fed to say the least

I am no snake expert but the plain brown snake that ssems to widen near the head might be some sort of cobra?

Very nice, Gordon!

Tend to agree with Doug on the snake species. Perhaps Mozambican Spitting Cobra.

My Canon glass I leant Gordon seems to really do the trick <!-- s8) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_cool.gif" alt="8)" title="Cool" /><!-- s8) -->
That is unless those were digiscoped through the pentax?

Hi all,

Thanks for sharing these photos Gordon, great shots with great detail. The zebra is my favourite.

My first impression of the snake was mole snake, the head seems too small and pointed for a cobra.
Mole snakes usually spend most of their time underground, but all the rains will have forced them to the surface.

About the snake, the pattern of the scales doesn't look right for a cobra.

Cobra's should have slightly fewer, but larger scales surrounding the body.
