In the second week of our trip, we stayed at the delightful Serra dos Tucanos bird lodge,
in the foothills of the mountains about 100 km northeast of Rio. They have a series of feeding
tables laden with fruit, mainly bananas. Here are some of the amazing birds that visited these
tables during our stay.

Violaceous Euphonia - probably one of my favourite birds of the entire trip

Green Honeycreeper

Great Kiskadee - very common, and woke us up on many mornings

Maroon-bellied Parakeet

Blue Dacnis

Chest-bellied Euphonia

Thinking back on our trip and wandering what parts of it we might change, we decided
Serra dos Tucanos would not be one of them! It has a stunning array of birds

Thanks, Jeff. Certainly felt a bit unreal, with so many lifers streaming through the bins and field book!
Part 3 on its way soon......

For any of you that found this interesting, here's the link to the Serra dos Tucanos Lodge: [url:385w2qts]http://www.serradostucanos.com.br/[/url:385w2qts]

Spent way to long day-dreaming about this place yesterday - wife is already tired of hearing about it

Brilliant photo's of birds that we can only dream of, Peter, we're seriously envious. Would like to see your whole collection sometime.
