Connor, Karen and I headed down to Stanford for the bird fair as I was due to talk on bird vocalization at the fair.

Heading down I do what I ALWAYS do going down is time departure to arrive at Garingboom guest farm for Breakfast. Riette was her usual amazingly freindly self and we got a few pics although we had almost no time.

African Pipit

Eastern Clapper Lark

We drove on down and due to the distance had very little time to stop although got one or two keepers at a garage or two.

Young House Sparrow

The next morning we headed very early to Langebaan/ West Coast NP and Veldrif. We got a few nice ones including a lifer for me in Karoo Lark,

Karoo Lark

Hartlaub's Gull

We then stopped off at Bloubergstrand for a bit of fun for Connor.

The next morning before talking we took a drive through the overberg region.

Comming back to Oak Dale farm we finally saw our accomodation during daylight,

and after talking finished of with whales...

and a trip to Rooiels

Sunday saw a mad drive home from Stanford via Port elizabeth but it was worth it all to see knysna heads etc.

Please not the pics from Blauwberg pass were achieved by proceeding with extreme caution passed road closed signs and the road is collapsing and in poor. Go in at your own peril as it was a rather nerve racking experience but nice birding,

Thanks all.

The 23 hour drive home was worth it. Also Karen has started birding with me and left for Stanfrd on 86 as a life list. She is now on 155 and added species SEEN such as Forest Buzzard, Karoo Lark and Common Quail!
