Hi All

I did a trip to Nylsvley this weekend. Knowing that there is still an enormous amount of water around… more than most summers, I decided to visit, hoping to see some of the arriving migrant waders, a few hopefully still in breeding plumage. Alas, I did not see a single wader. There were still a lot of birds about, mainly ibis, herons, ducks and egrets, but not much else. The only migrants were African migrants, lesser striped, red breasted and white throated swallows. Herewith a few shots from the trip.
Spoonbill

Crested francolin

African Black Crake

A rather mean looking Coucal

Tons of Zitting Cisticola’s

Lizard Buzzard (lifer for ZA list)

Despite a few disappointments as to what was on show. The place is quite beautiful and always worth a visit. It has also been spruced up a bit, and boasts 3 new chalets and “The Spoonbill” restaurant. (That doesn’t serve duck <!-- s:twisted: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_twisted.gif" alt="" title="Twisted Evil" /><!-- s:twisted: --> ).
