Hi All,

I borrowed my brothers new Pentax K7 to try out the HD video function while connected to the Pentax 80mm ED spotting scope.

The weather was overcast and I was pointing up into the tree to get the shot. My tripod is not quite rated to carry the weight of the scope so the footage ended up a bit shaky but at least you can get an idea of what kind of video is achievable from a modern Digital camera (I have included a converted video with this post to save peoples bandwidth. This file is 5MB in MPEG format while the original HD version is around 80MB as an AVI. The Pentax does around 30fps). Bear in mind that you can now get HD video footage of birds at an effective focal length of 1530mm!!! when using a scope:

A non-birding video with the same camera taken at a model railway exhibition in Spain in decent light, hand held with shake reduction off using the Pentax 55-300 ED lens (9MB MPEG):

I must say I am extremely envious. That K7 just seems to work almost "no matter what"

am starting to suffer from Canon pattern baldness. That is caused by the sudden but frequent ripping of small tufts of hair from your own head leading to patchy and sporadic hair distribution...
