Hi all.

I found my Sigma 17-70 F2.8 is an EF-S not an EF and thus vingettes quite badly on my 1D...

Went into Kameraz in Rosebank and they kept trying to sell me L series lenses and I kept saying... My budget is blown to shreds. I don't think you understand what I mean by cheap!

They dug around in their workshop and found a 35-135 mm F4-F5.6 USM AF.....
R1500 and it seems to take very nice pics. Certainly a nice happy snap lens.

Thought I would go back and take the same shot for a direct comparison with the Sigma 17-70 F2.8

Canon 35-135 mm F4-f5.6 USM - Non-IS

Sigma 17-70mm F2.8 Macro

You should come to our garden then, you can photograph Louries (live ones) from less than a metre! <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt="" title="Laughing" /><!-- s:lol: -->

Seriously though, it seems like a great lens, that photo of Connor is excellent and all your shots are crisp and sharp. I often bemoan the lack of a shorter lens. When we went to the Free State we took Mariana's Sony Cyber Shot compact as well as my SLR because my 70-300mm zoom is no good for landscapes and mountians. Wish I'd gone for a 28-300mm now!
