There was not much bird activity at Lake Panic this last week, but the dragonflies more than made up for that. Some I have identified (I hope so anyway) and the names of the rest remain a mystery.

female Banded Groundling

male Black-tailed Skimmer

male Broad Scarlet

male Common Tigertail

male Red-veined Dropwing

male Violet Dropwing

Phantom Flutterer

...and 5 unidentified ones

Thanks, Peter.

Having taking the step up from the Canon 40D/100-400mm combo, most of my photos now are taken with a 1D MkIV/300mm f2.8 combo with a 2x extender. However, these are a mix of both since I had both cameras with me and many of the shots were taken with the 40D while I had the 1D set up waiting for the return to particular perch of a Malachite Kingfisher. For instance, the first photo - the Banded Groundling - was taken with the 1D MkIV/300mm f2.8 plus extender and the Tigertail was captured using the 40D/100-400mm at the full 400mm.
