Hi all,

Managed to get these two pics taken in the early evening on a farm near Molteno in the northern part of the Eastern Cape. I've made an attempt at the ID of both but would like some confirmation from anyone else in the know.

First up is a Cape Rock Elephant Shrew, unfortunately the pic is front on so you don't really get to see the long snout.

Next is a Karoo Bush Rat. I decided on this because of it's relatively short tail, size (maybe 20cm) and habitat -- rocky slopes with no water/vlei anywhere nearby.

Cheers,

Jeff

Hi Jeff

From a birding point of view, the first looks like a buzzard snack, and the second looks like a raptor take-away

Sorry, can't help on actual ID's.
