Our resident pair of G S Swallows arrived this morning in Beverley, Lonehill. While I was looking at them two Roseringed Parakeets came flying by - a lifer on a Monday morning, without setting foot outside my garden. Now that's what I call birding!

Well done, always good to get a lifer without having to travel thousands of miles!

Our resident Greater Striped Swallow family left for warmer parts this last weekend. For the past 2 weeks they had been very active around the nest which is situated on the ceiling of our patio, with the youngsters flying in and out of the nest, to the anxious chirping of the adults. At one stage there were 6 birds in the nest! We're not sure what the frantic activity was about, perhaps they were imprinting the gps coordinates onto the youngsters, or formatting their Garmins Anyway, they will be missed, we spent many hours watching their comings and goings, and were pleased to note that they raised 2 lots of chicks this year.
