Hi all.

IS anyone from this forum interested in a dedicated birding weekend in Paul Roux? The Residents forum suggested we put something together. It is not a guided nor a paid weekend or anything. Just putting it out there as an idea. We can set aside a weekend. If you want you come and join us in Paul Roux and then we go looking for some specials in and around Paul Roux. We can, if the mood is keen, even arrange a day trip into Lesotho for some mega specials.

Let me know what you think.

Some of the specials we would look for include:
Blue Korhaan
Double-banded Courser
Kimberley Pipit
Rufous-eared Warbler
Ground Woodpecker
Alpine Swift

Including Golden Gate we can also look for:
Mountain Pipit (time of year depending)
Drakensberg Siskin

Witsieshoek can also produce:
Drakensberg Rockjumper
Sickle-winged Chat

Mountain Pipit
Drakensberg Rockjumper
Sickle-winged Chat
African Rock Pipit
White-necked Raven

My idea is the trip itself is "free"... I.e. no one charges anything. You just get yourself down to Paul Roux, book into some accommodation (it is extremely affordable there and good quality) and then you follow the group round in your own car.

Let me know if you are keen.
