Made my third trip there in the past 6 months this morning and as always lots to keep me going back again.

Highlight of the day was only my second sighting and first photograph of a Eurasian Sparrowhawk, this one possibly a juvenile male - and it was the first bird of the day, sitting in a tree in the car park!!!

The only other bird in this post not associated with water is this male European Green Woodpecker

Next two familiar species, grebes in their winter plumage -

a couple of Little Grebe

and a Great Crested Grebe

Another familiar face, a Common Moorhen

Now for the ducks -

a male Gadwall

a male Northern Shoveler

2 male and a female Northern Pintail

Greater Scaup, male and female

a male Red-crested Pochard

an unusual female Tufted Duck of the uncommon variant with white at the base of the bill

Some exotic duck species -

Eastern Spot-billed Duck

a male Falcated Duck

a male Ferruginous Duck

a Marbled Duck

a winter plumaged male White-headed Duck

To finish 4 of 5 gull species seen (I missed out on a photo of Great Black-backed Gull), again causing me a few headaches as I am not yet too good at the summer/winter variants of 1st, 2nd & 3rd year birds and adults.

a 2nd winter European Herring Gull

winter plumaged adult Lesser Black-backed Gull (left), adult European Herring Gull and a 1st winter European Herring Gull (right)

and winter plumaged Black-headed Gull (right) with a single winter plumaged adult Mew (or Common) Gull to the left - common in continental Europe that is, as this is only the 3rd time I have seen this one and it is my first photograph.
