The second post on the parrot family birds at Tropical Birdland ( http://www.tropicalbirdland.com/ ) covers the mainly smaller true parrots and some non-South American species.

Black-headed Parrot from north of the Amazon River in Brazil and northern Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela



male Eclectus Parrot from Australia, one of the species exhibiting a spectacular sexual dimorphism



(African) Grey Parrot



Scaly-headed Parrot from eastern Brazil, central and eastern Bolivia, Paraguay, and northern Argentina



the West African Senegal Parrot



White-bellied Parrot from the Amazon south of the Amazon River in Bolivia, Brazil, and Peru



Fiery-shouldered Parakeet from Brazil, Guyana and Venezuela



Red-crowned Parakeet from New Zealand. This one is probably a colour mutant from aviary breeding, the wild bird is green.



Sun Parakeet from northeastern South America



Rosy-faced Lovebird from Namibia and Angola



Alexandrine Parakeet native to the Punjab but introduced into many Mediterranean countries

Hi Neil,

When you come out to visit us one day we'll show you a couple of those Australian species... Two are trash garden birds around here in Brisbane... :)
