To start, the 'forgotten' member of the Order Anseriformes, the Ducks, Geese and Swans - probably because they are referred to as Ducks, Geese and Swans, and not Ducks, Geese, Swans and Screamers. So here is one of the only 3 screamers, all South American, the Southern Screamer

Now a couple of birds as we do not see them in southern Africa, a Pied Avocet in immature plumage

and a male Ruff in his rather impressive full breeding plumage

A common UK resident the Tufted Duck, this one a male

an occasional vagrant from North America, the 'Bluebill' or Redhead, also a male

Some young Common Shelduck, a female with juveniles, and a group of immatures

A male Smew

Another familiar face, Maccoa Duck

and a couple of Whistling Ducks -

the Australasian Wandering Whistling Duck

and the Central Americas West Indian Whistling Duck
