As always the mix of exotic species seemed a little different to my last visit in mid-year, whether because I simply missed something that was there or saw something that I'd missed before, or there have been genuine additions, I don't know. Nevertheless I could not find the Baikal Teal and Hardhead, and the Plumed Whistling Duck and Chestnut Teal seemed new.

Below, just some of the many exotic species on show.

Black Swan - from Australia

Blue-winged Goose - Ethiopian endemic

male Bufflehead - North America

male Chestnut Teal - Australia

male Falcated Duck - eastern Asia

male Ferruginous Duck - Eurasia

male and female Hooded Merganser - North America

Nene - Hawaii

Plumed (or Eyton's) Whistling Duck - Australia and New Guinea

male Red-crested Pochard - southern Europe to central Asia

male and female Rosy-billed Pochard - southern South America

female White-headed Duck - Spain, north Africa, west and central Asia

White-winged Duck - Assam and south-east Asia

pair of Wood Duck - North America
