My second post from my Iguassu/Ibera trip is dedicated to herons, storks and ibises, and a bit of an oddity the Limpkin in a family all of its own. I didn't bother posting Cattle and Great Egret, 2 of only 7 birds that I saw on the trip that are common to the 2 continents, but you will recognise one of the posts as another one in common.

Black-crowned Night Heron [Ibera]

Whistling Heron [Ibera]

Cocoi Heron [Ibera] - cf. Grey and Black-headed Herons

Rufescent Tiger Heron [Ibera] - adult and juvenile

Maguari Stork [Ibera]

a couple of very long-range shots of one of the rarer storks, the Jabiru [Ibera]

White-faced Ibis [Ibera]

Bare-faced Ibis [Ibera]

Taken in drizzly conditions an hour after dawn in small wetland area in Iguassu National Park, this ibis is most active at night and like the Hadeda has an unmistakable call - Green Ibis

Plumbeous Ibis [Ibera]

Limpkin [Ibera] - as the photo shows this bird is principally a snail eater

Some of those colours are amazing, especially the Whistling Heron.
