Josey created the topic: Golden gate
I have just been to Golden Gate and was lucky to see 3 new lifers: Mountain Wheatear, Buff-streaked Chat and Grey-winged Francolin.
Also saw secretary birds, sacred ibis, ground woodpeckers etc.

I went to the vulture hide that they have there but there was nothing there even though a fresh carcass had been placed there a day before. When is the best time of day to visit a vulture hide?

I am pleased to say that my lifers have reached a total of 384, 16 to go to get to 400 :D

regards
Jo

Hi Jo, the hide at Golden gate is a hit or miss. If you want to see Bearded Vultures in that area then drive up to Witsieshoek hotel, where they are fed every day at 9H00.

We also got Drakensberg Rock-jumper a bit further pass Witsieshoek hotel on the Sentinel pass.
