Taken in the grounds of a hotel outside the town of Monte Patria.

the aptly named Southern House Wren, flitted from light fitting to light fitting every morning mopping up all the unsuspecting moths that had settled there overnight.

....however, the birds that got the lion's share of my attention were dozens of Chile's commonest hummingbird, the Green-backed Firecrown. Only occurs in this area as a winter migrant. The large fruiting palms in the hotel gardens certainly were a hive of activity.
