Some exciting news from Trevor Hardacre: "Johann and Lizet Grobbelaar have just been in touch to confirm that the WILSON’S PHALAROPE is still showing well this morning in Walvis Bay along the Paaltjies Road. It was still present on Saturday afternoon, but then disappeared yesterday and did not show at all to the small group of twitchers that had gathered there. Johann and Lizet are the first people to reconnect with it and I have just been in touch with Owen and Sue Oertli to let them know and they are currently racing through there as well to hopefully catch up with the bird. Congrats also to Johann and Lizet who have contrived to miss several of the previous records (including the very popular bird at Dolphin Beach a few years ago) despite travelling for all of them, so it is great that you have finally caught up with this one. As they say, “Aanhouer wen”…:) If you are in the area, the supporting cast is still including 2 GULL-BILLED TERNS and between 60 and 70 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES at Walvis Bay whilst there are still at least 3 COMMON REDSHANKS at Mile 4 Salt Works in Swakopmund as well." Good luck and let us know if you get there!
