I don't have books on me. That canary has a very heavy bill. Brimstone maybe?

i see on Roberts 7 multi media they say that brimstone does' occur at suikerbos as a rare sighting, pretty chuffed if it is so.

A also think your canary is a Brimstone.

And just to add my 2 cents worth -- my first impression was also Brimstone with that heavy bill.

The problem is the descriptions in the books are far from helpful. Many of the plumage features indicate yellow-fronted. If its yellow-fronted then "heavy bill" really isn't a useful ID feature for brimstone.

Ok guys. I discussed this with Trevor.
It's actually a yellow canary. Whilst brimstone has an even bigger bill, the problem is... Just what constitutes a big or heavy bill.

According to Trevor, the supercillium is too long for Brimstone.
