Hi all,

My wife and I regularly spend the weekend in Hogsback, a beautiful forest covered mountain village in the Eastern Cape with some great birds.

On our last trip (Dec 08) I was lucky enough to come across a White Starred Robin at it's nest with 2 or 3 chicks inside. The adult bird was extremely agitated so wouldn't sit still long enough for a shot although it was within 2m of me. Got this shot of the nest and then moved on:

The rest of the forest birding was excellent and I picked up most of the specials: Bush Blackcap, Emerald Cuckoo, Cape Parrot, Forest Buzzard, Dark-capped Yellow-warbler and good views of a Barratts Warbler. Unfortunately the light is terrible under the canopy and my camera equip is not nearly good enough for decent shots in such poor light.

Came across this lone White Stork in the nearby grasslands:

Cheers,

Jeff
