A few weeks prior to Christmas, I was in Pretoria to watch my nephew play cricket for Zim schools, and also took the opportunity to do some birding with a friend working up there. On the first morning, we visited Borakalalo Nature Reserve and followed that up the next day (wet and miserable) driving along the dirt road north of the Pienaars River and popped into Rooiwal sewage Works on our return. For me it was a fantastic few days as in all I had 27 lifers. Notably the Golden Pipit in Pongola, seen en route the long way to Pretoria!!!

Here are a few of my better photos from the various trips.

African Wattled Lapwing

Burchells Coucal - rather wet and miserable!!
