HI all.

Myself, Karen and little Connor took a drive up to Pilanesberg mainly to show him some animals in the wild.

We immediately had a few nice sightings but the highlight of the early morning must have been a Jackal. Normaly these are quite secretive and you get short glimpses of them but this one was lying on the ground sunning itself only 20 meters from the car.

As we went through the reserve, the odd photo opportunity forb birds presented itself.

The highlight of course must have been the Small Buttonquail.

As the morning progressed, many nice animal sightings were had including Rhino. Also a Klipspringer caught in mid shot as it was taking off.

The 100-400 lens also proved quite useful for insect photography.

The morning continued with many wonderful closeup sightings making litte Connor really excited.

And a few more bird sightings....

Although not a birding day as such, a really nice time and a few special sightings made it worth while.

I must say that the scenery there is rather nice.

Cheers,
Doug

I take it you are not so glum after this weekend, Doug? <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt=":lol:" title="Laughing" /><!-- s:lol: -->

Some nice shots... lekker how the centre spot focussing allows you to focus on a bird obscured by branches and leaves, hey... loved the go-away-bird!
