gordon created the topic: Marievale - CWAC
After attending the summer CWAC at Marievale this morning and managing to notch up a Eurasian Marsh Harrier for inclusion in the count, Doug, Eric and myself spent the rest of the morning birding around the sanctuary. Below are a couple of pictures from the days outing:

Well done . You have some excellent shots here. I'm impressed with the two duck and the one swallow in flight shots .

Did you use your 300mm lens at maximum when you took the BIF shots ?

Thanks Philip.

The larger birds were all shot at 300mm, the martins and swallows were hawking insects no more than a couple of metres away, so I had to reduce focal length to around 100 -150mm. I had to reduce the length just to be able to follow them, they fly past at incredible speed!

You will notice that most of the pictures are quite grainy. This was because I had to drop down to ISO 400 with the light conditions to try and get a decent shutter speed.

The handful of pictures you see above are the only ones out of around 60 pics that were not completely blurred!

Cheers,
Gordon
