I spent the afternoon at Marievale to try and practise some photography. For those of you that are interested, the section to the north of Hadeda Hide has been extensively burnt, leaving a huge open area where there were once reeds. This means birds like the African Rail are now "skulking" around in full view!

Here are one or two of the pictures that actually came out... <!-- s:wink: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt=":wink:" title="Wink" /><!-- s:wink: -->

juv. Blackwinged Stilt

Greenbacked Heron juv or Little Bittern juv? (my own guess is a Little Bittern juv)

T-minus 10-9-8-.... Malachite Kingfisher just before launch..

Wanna see my BIG fish? ... just look at the shadow silly!

No really... it is bigger than your fish!

Rock Dove or Speckled Rock Pigeon thingy... I can never remember the names!

African Spoonbill

Cheers,
Gordon
