HI all.

I got a call from a birder who reported flocks of up to 70 Cape Vultures in the Takestad (if I have that correct) area near Blanco Guest Farm. She asked around and there seems to not be any vulture feeding station in this area and she has never seen any significant Vulture numbers in the area.

Does anyone know if significant vulture numbers in this area are normal?

Cheers.
Doug.

We saw a few near the Bashee River on our way up to Kwa-Zulu through the Transkei two weeks ago but that is about 200km east as the crow flies.

BTW, the spelling is Tarkastad, between Queenstown and Cradock.

Hi Doug,

I don't know the Tarkastad area to well but I have seen vultures in & around Queenstown (about 70km away), but not such large numbers.
The closest restaurant I no of is at the Thomas River Conservancy, near Stutterheim. I have also recently visited a roost sight, also near stutt with about 50 vultures present.

Cheers
Jeff
