Firstly a big thank you to all the ladies on the planet for being wonderful enough so that we could all get a holiday...

I made good use of the time and spent the day driving around the Rietpan area. The spurwing geese are still there, as are numerous ducks, gulls, teals and herons. Of interest were 6 Ruff still in their breeding plumage.

From here I checked up on the "grey-headed" pipit which was still merely wondering around "his" field. After this I headed off to Greylingstad and explored the dirt roads in the area. Of interest here was a lone Secretary Bird strutting near the road.

Other nice birds on the list included Redcapped Lark, Greater Kestrel, flocks of Wattled Starling and some fine close view's of the relatively common Black Shouldered Kite.

I still need to get myself a spotting scope which would have come in handy today at Grootvlei as there were several waders that I could just not ID with the binoculars...

I hope everyone else had a wonderful day!
